This cake was first baked in Sandakan coffe shops in the 1960s, probably. It is now mass produced by commercial bakeries of Hai Joo where it is named Touch Me Not and Mee Ngar that had expanded to Kota Kinabalu, calling it UFO.
The picture was the cake bought from Mee Ngar bakery at Mile 8, Jalan Labuk, Sandakan.

I used to enjoy this UFO cake. Anyone may conduct a baking class on how to make it?
This "pastry" was made famous by a bakery opposite (Hang Fong chinese medicine shop" a long time ago. Other imitators' attempt to replicate the taste have not been successful.
So sad...good food never to be tasted again as it should be.
I watched a Malaysian TV serial called "Motosikal", where are young chinese man travels all over Malaysia on a motorcycle.
He interviewed many people who are supposed to be originally involved with baking this cake. Its orignal name is "Kek Tahi Lembu", or "Cow's Faeces Cake".
Yaya, I saw on TV too, it's a Hong Kong eating show, and they call it Cow Dung Tart (ngau see tat)
